David G. Simons AcademyThe David G. Simons Academy in Switzerland offers a comprehensive international myofascial course, similar to the Janet G. Travell, MD Seminar Series. Orlando Mayoral del MoralIn Spain, physical therapist Orlando Mayoral del Moral conducts many manual trigger point therapy and dry needling courses leading to university specialist certificates. In 1996, Dr. Gerwin taught the first trigger point dry needling course in Spain together with Mr. Mayoral. Dr. Jan Dommerholt continues teaching advanced dry needling courses throughout Spain. Academy Physical RehabilitationIn Ireland, at United Physiotherapy Clinic, physiotherapist Dr. Johnson McEvoy offers the only myofascial trigger point therapy courses exclusively for chartered physiotherapists. The courses are offered in conjunction with the David Simons Academy. Myofasciale PijnIn the Netherlands, Carel Bron and Jo Franssen, physical therapists specialized in the treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders of the neck, shoulder, and arm, have developed a comprehensive course program in manual trigger point therapy since 2004. The course program is certified by the Royal Dutch Physical Therapy Association (KNGF). The program includes manual techniques and dry needling based on current best available scientific evidence. Optimal Dry Needling SolutionsIn South Africa, at Optimal Dry Needling Solutions, physical therapists Bruce Barker, Claire Waumsley and Steven Stavrou have developed a comprehensive continuing education program in dry needling. Dr. Jan Dommerholt is a frequent speaker at Fisiodynacom courses and conferences. Dr. Ruggero Strobbe from Fisiodynacom and Dr. Dommerholt have taught several courses together throughout Italy. Dr. Strobbe is an internationally known speaker, lecturer, and physical therapist. Interanational Myopain SocietyThe International MYOPAIN Society (IMS) is a nonprofit, international, interdisciplinary organization for research scientists, physicians, other health care professionals, individuals in training toward a health-related career, institutions, foundations, and commercial companies interested in exchanging ideas, conducting research, or learning more about soft tissue pain syndromes like myofascial pain syndrome and fi bromyalgia syndrome. The IMS is a membership organization in service to the medical community and supporting international MYOPAIN meetings.
