    Description

The DN-2 Foundations II course builds on the knowledge and skills of the DN-1 course. Students will be introduced to the clinical aspects of myofascial pain, peripheral and central sensitization, the etiology and scientific basis of myofascial pain and dry needling.

Many muscles commonly addressed in clinical practice are included, such the posterior cervical muscles, the oblique capitis inferior, the cervical and thoracic and lumbar multifidi, levator scapula (partially), the latissimus dorsi (partially), supraspinatus, teres major and minor, pectoralis major (partially), pectoralis minor, the coracobrachialis, pronator teres, wrist flexors, oblique abdominal muscles and rectus abdominus, the lumbar paraspinals, the deep hip rotators, the lower and middle trapezius, the serratus anterior, and the rhomboids muscles. Students will also be introduced to the current scientific basis for dry needling for scar tissue, fascial adhesions, enthesopathies, and tendinopathies. Note: the pelvic floor muscles are no longer part of the DN-2 course, as Myopain Seminars will soon launch a new Pelvic Pain Dry Needling course.

Students will review the anatomy, function, and dry needling techniques for each muscle. Instructor student ratio is at least 1:10.

Pre-Course videos are provided after registration. If you prefer to review the presentations in a live webinar, you can register for the DN-2 Webinar.

Dry Needling 2: Foundations II is the second course in a three course series by Myopain Seminars to attain certification as a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist - Dry Needling (CMTPT/DN). A minimum score of 70% on a multiple choice quiz plus demonstrated muscle competency are required to pass this course.

Maryland PT's - If you are a physical therapist practicing in Maryland, you will need 40 theoretical hours and 40 practical training hours before you complete your application to use Dry Needling to the Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners. The Maryland Board of Physical Therapy Examiners requires “in person … face-to-face session; or in real time through electronic means that allow for simultaneous interaction between the instructor and the participants.”  When you have completed Dry Needling 1, 2 & 3 with Myopain Seminars, you will be short 6.25 hours of theory. (You will have met the 40 hour practical requirement) Myopain Seminars offers webinars every other month to meet this theoretical requirement, although you can also take another approved dry needling course to meet the hours. We offer three different webinars that you can take at any time and in any order. We do recommend that you wait until you have completed the live courses! You must meet the minimum requirements, complete the application, submit it and be approved before you will be eligible to use dry needling in Maryland. To learn more about Dry Needling in Maryland click here: Maryland Regulations Title 10.
