Dr. Jan Dommerholt is co-founder and president/CEO of Myopain Seminars. His early career mentors included Drs. Janet Travell, David Simons, Robert Gerwin, Richard S. Materson, Karel Lewit, and Peter Baldry, among others. Together with Robert Gerwin, Jan started teaching dry needling courses in 1996, first in Spain and from 1997 onwards also in the USA.

Jan is a Dutch-trained physical therapist who holds a Master of Professional Studies degree with a concentration in both Biomechanical Trauma and Healthcare Administration from Lynn University, and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Dr. Dommerholt has taught hundreds of courses and lectured at over 80 conferences throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East while maintaining an active clinical practice. He is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Manual & Manipulative Therapy, Cuestiones de Fisioterapia, and the Journal of Invasive Therapies in Physical Therapy.

Jan is an Honorary Member of the Iranian Physiotherapy Association and of the Polish Association of Invasive Physiotherapy. In 2016, he received the Janet G. Travell Excellence in Education Award from the National Association of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapists. The American Physical Therapy Association recognized his achievements by awarding him the 2014 Henry O. and Florence P. Kendall Practice Award.

Dr. Dommerholt has edited several books on myofascial pain, dry needling, and manual physical therapy, authored about 80 book chapters, and more than 140 articles on dry needling, myofascial pain, fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, and performing arts physical therapy. From 2004 through 2021, he prepared a quarterly literature review column on myofascial pain initially with Dr. David Simons for the Journal of Musculoskeletal Pain followed by the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies with a variety of co-authors.

Amanda (Mandy) Blackmon PT, DPT, OCS, CMTPT received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sports Science from the University of Georgia in 2002 and her Doctor of Physical Therapy from Emory University in 2005. Dr. Blackmon is a board-certified specialist in orthopedic physical therapy with 15 years of clinical experience treating patients with musculoskeletal conditions. She specializes in treating performing artists and dancers and is the head physical therapist for Atlanta Ballet.

Mandy runs a private practice in Atlanta, GA, and is a founding partner in Atlanta Dance Medicine. Dr. Blackmon has taught in the DPT program at Mercer University in Atlanta, GA for 10 years. Her current research areas of interest include hypermobility, Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S), trigger points and dry needling, and injury surveillance and prevention in dancers and performing artists. She speaks on these topics at local, state, national, and international meetings. Mandy was certified in dry needling by Myopain Seminars in 2010 and has been teaching dry needling courses since 2013.

Dr. Blackmon is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia (PTAG), and the APTA’s Academy of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy. She holds leadership positions in the Performing Arts Special Interest Group. In 2015, PTAG awarded her the Merit Award for Exceptional Service and Achievement. She is also a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science, the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy, the International Myofascial Pain Society, and the Performing Arts Medical Association. She serves on the Executive Board for Dance/USA’S Taskforce on Dancer Health, addressing injury prevention and surveillance for professional dancers. Dr. Blackmon is the past President of the Eating Disorders Information Network and now serves on the Medical Advisory Board for the organization.

Savas Koutsantonis PT, DPT, CMTPT is an instructor, He graduated from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Medicine in 1985 with a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy, and received a Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree from A.T. Still University of Health Sciences in 2004. He has worked at a range of different companies and served as adjunct faculty at the University of Maryland Physical Therapy Department. He received his certification in Trigger Point Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars in 2009.

Blair Green PT, DPT, OCS, PHC is an instructor and a pelvic health physical therapist. She graduated with her Master’s of Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University and completed a transitional DPT from Evidence in Motion Institute of Health Professions in conjunction with a Pelvic Health Certification. She is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, is a Polestar trained Pilates Instructor, and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (NSCA). She is certified in Trigger Point Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars.

Josh Lerner, L.Ac., CMTPT is an acupuncturist and manual therapist in Renton, Washington. He has been in private practice since 2001, and specializes in orthopedic conditions and pain management. In addition to being certified in Dry Needling through Myopain Seminars, he holds certifications in Sports Medicine Acupuncture and the Selective Functional Movement Assessment. Since 2010, Josh has also been a clinic supervisor and teacher at the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine, where he teaches tuina (traditional Chinese manual therapy), trigger point theory, orthopedic acupuncture, and musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology.

Rob Stanborough PT, DPT, MHSc, MTC, CMTPT, FAAOMPT is a senior instructor. He is a Dutch-trained physical therapist, who received his degree in Physiotherapie from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, and his Master of Health Science and Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences. Dr. Stanborough is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists and has earned several certifications related to soft tissue manipulation including manual therapy, dry needling and ASTYM.

Harry von Piekartz PT, PhD, MSc, MT(OMT) is an instructor. He completed his physical therapy in 1985. He received a PhD in Rehabilitation Science from Staffordshire University (UK) in 2005. He has published several textbooks and articles on craniofacial dysfunction and orofacial pain, and headaches. Harry is president of the Craniofacial Therapy Academy (CRAFTA) and a Professor in Physiotherapy at the University of Applied Science in Osnabrück, Germany.

Maggie Gebhardt PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT is an instructor. She received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Georgia State University in 2008 and completed her Orthopedic Residency at Mercer University in 2010. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. She is an adjunct clinical professor at Mercer University teaching in the entry-level Physical Therapy curriculum as well as the orthopedic residency. She is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist Maggie received her Dry Needling Certification through Myopain Seminars in 2009.

Rob Satriano PT, DPT, CMTPT, MLDT is an instructor. He received his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Teaching from The University of Notre Dame of Maryland. He is an International Physical Therapist with Phoenix Rising for Haiti and teaches Manual Therapy techniques and methodology of sustainable healthcare to Haitian therapists. He has worked backstage with performing artists at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. and as a guest lecturer at University of MD School of Medicine.
